Attention Property Owners:
Have you heard about the brand-new additional tax incentives for protecting your land?
-The deduction property owners can take for donating a conservation agreement is raised from the standard 30% of your income in any year to 50%
-Qualifying farmers and ranchers will be allowed to deduct up to 100% of their income
-The carry-forward period for a donor to take tax deductions will be extended from 5 to 15 years
If you've ever thought about protecting your land, now is the time. These tax incentives are significant, and they are available for conservation agreements donated before December 31, 2007 only.
You will have a chance to ask your land protection questions of a panel of experts at "Protecting Your Land: Is It Right For You? Ask The Experts." The expert panel will include lawyers, appraisers, tax accountants and estate planners. The
fee for this session is $15 per person / $20 per household and includes:
- Refreshments
- "Conservation Options, A Landowner's Guide" by the Land Trust Alliance, the national organization of land trusts
- Other informational materials
