New Name, Same Commitment

New name.

Same local focus and conservation expertise.

Nature doesn't stop at the county line, and neither does your Land Trust! And soon, our name will reflect that.

Creating connections with nature: Susan Lackey, Executive Director of the Land Trust, shows young visitors a butterfly.

Established in 1971, your Land Trust has a long history of local conservation. For the past decade of its 37 year history, the Land Trust has protected lands both within and outside the borders of Washtenaw County.

Our increased work beyond Washtenaw has forced us to think carefully about our organization’s name, and about our future as a strong local conservancy. Over the past several months, we’ve been investigating how people perceive our work, and how we can make our conservation message more compelling across all the lands we serve.

As a result of this examination, we’ve come to the conclusion that once again it is time for the Land Trust to change its name, to better reflect the work we do.

So, you may be wondering, what is the new name? Stay tuned: it’ll be officially unveiled at our 2009 gala, “Legacy of Trust: Celebrating Land Conservation in Southern Michigan”, on March 19, 2009. We hope you can join us. If you can’t, not to worry, you will hear the new name by mail and email shortly thereafter.

In the meantime, we welcome your suggestions, questions, and feedback. Here’s how you can reach us:
