Barn Art will be a collaborative project offered at the ArtZone activity area of the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair. Visitors will be invited to help create a photographic collage of images of farms, rural scenes, farming families and heritage that will be assembled as a three-dimensional form celebrating rural heritage in Chelsea and Washtenaw County. This hands-on activity will take place during the art fairs – July 18 through 21, 2007.
Following the art fairs, the completed work will be exhibited in Chelsea and made available for display in other communities in Washtenaw County.
You can help us build this project!
Farmland supporters and art lovers are encouraged to submit photographs (copies, please) of farms and farmsteads, barns, livestock or agricultural production, farm families, farming equipment or tools, or other rural scenes from Washtenaw County. The photographs will be copied by laser jet printer for use in this project. With the magic of clear packing tape and water, they will be transformed into transparencies for this creative collage project.
We are also seeking written perspectives; poems, memories and other creative expressions of the importance of farming and rural heritage to Washtenaw County and its communities. The writings will be woven into the collage along with educational materials available during the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair.
Photographs (in jpg format on CD or print copies) and written expressions should be submitted to the Chelsea Center for the Arts, 400 Congdon Street, Chelsea, MI 48118 or emailed to info@chelseacenterforthearts.org by July 13, 2007. Art fair visitors may also bring photographs and written materials to the ArtZone during Ann Arbor Street Art Fair for inclusion in the project.
Sponsorship opportunities are available and volunteers are needed to provide project assistance and information during art fair week. Please contact the CCA at 734-433-2787 or info@chelseacenterforthearts.org to sign up and be part of the fun!
