January 2004: Theresa Schenk has been named President of the
Washtenaw Land Trust Board of Trustees. Schenk, who serves as Finance Director for Manchester
Community Schools, is also a member of the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau Land Use Committee.
She and her husband, Karl Schenk, live on a 220-acre farm in Freedom Township that has been in
the Schenk family since 1849. She and her husband raise beef cattle, as well as corn, soybeans,
alfalfa and barley. Ms. Schenk has a BBA in accounting from Eastern Michigan University, and is a
registered CPA in the state of Michigan.
The Washtenaw Land Trust has named Cedric Richner
as a new member of its Board of Trustees. Richner is the founder of Richner & Richner, L.L.C,
an Ann Arbor-based fundraising consulting firm. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors
of the Friends of Nichols Arboretum at the University of Michigan, and he teaches classes at the NEW
Center about various aspects of the fundraising business. Cedric is a graduate of Hillsdale College
and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
The Washtenaw Land Trust also announced the appointment
of the following officers: Robert W. Marans, Vice President; Dianne E. Wells, Treasurer; and
Robert E. Gilbert, Executive Secretary.
The Washtenaw Land Trust
is a non-profit organization that works to protect farmland, natural areas
and open space in and around Washtenaw County, Michigan, and to educate members,
local officials and the public on land use issues. To date, WLT has protected more
than 1,600 acres of land.
