Workshop shows landowners
non-governmental ways to protect their land
February 2, 2006   6:00-8:00 PM

January 2006: Land in southeast Michigan is being developed at an unprecedented rate. American Farmland Trust estimates the loss of non-agricultural rural land in Michigan at over 34,000 acres per year.

Michigan State University Extension for Jackson County and the Washtenaw Land Trust are sponsoring a workshop on how landowners can protect their property.

Tools are available to landowners to help them meet the needs of protecting their forest land, forever. The workshop will outline several techniques to help landowners plan for the future of their land. The emphasis will be on those tools not requiring governmental intervention, that can be voluntarily done right now.
